Free XMPP/Jabber instant messaging service
XMPP.SG is a free, public XMPP (Jabber) service for everyday messaging — friends, family, groups, whatever you need it for.
XMPP is an open standard, so you are never locked in: pick any client you like, talk to people on any other XMPP server, and take your contacts with you if you leave.
Accounts are free and always have been.

The .sg in our name is just the domain we registered — the server
itself runs in Sweden.
You will need an XMPP client. Conversations or monocles chat on Android, Monal or Siskin on iOS, and Gajim, Dino or Beagle IM on the desktop are all good places to start. Enter your full address (you@xmpp.sg) and your password and the client does the rest.
Blocklists, rate limiting and automatic banning keep unwanted contacts away.
Add a recovery email address when you register and you can get back into your account if you forget your password.
OMEMO and OTR are supported, so message contents can be encrypted between you and the person you are talking to.
